HADLEY WOOD GOLF CLUB – LOCAL RULES 

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18)

• In or beyond any boundary ditch
• Beyond any boundary hedge or fencing.
• The car park and tarmac areas surrounding the Club House.
• A ball played from the 13th and finishing beyond the white stakes between the 13th and 16th fairways.

Note : All items defining out-of-bounds are deemed to be fixed and may not be moved.

2. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)

a) Penalty Areas are defined by Yellow markers and Red markers.
b) If a player does not know whether their ball is in the penalty area from the 10th tee, the player may play a provisional ball under Rule 18.3, which is modified in line with Model Local Rule B-3.

Relief on Opposite Side of Red Penalty Area

When a player's ball is in a penalty area, including when it is known or virtually certain to be in a penalty area even though not found, the player may take relief using one of the options under Rule 17.1d.

When the ball last crossed the edge of a red penalty area, as an extra relief option adding one penalty stroke, the player may drop the original ball or another ball within 2 club lengths of a Reference Point on the opposite side of the penalty area under Model Local Rule B-2.1.

3. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16)

a) Line marker posts on the 4th hole are immovable obstructions. Relief may be taken under Rule 16.1.
b) All fixed sprinkler heads are immovable obstructions and relief from interference by them may be obtained under Rule 16.1.  In addition, if a ball lies in the general area and such an immovable obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief under Rule 16.1b.
c) In play of the 16th hole the white stakes between the 16th and 13th fairways are immovable obstructions. Relief may be taken under Rule 16.1
d) The roadway crossing the 12th and 18th fairways is an immovable obstruction and relief may be taken under Rule 16.1
e) Ruts or severe damage caused by greenkeeper or contractor works
f) Relief from Seams of Cut Turf. Free relief for lie of ball only, not for stance. See Model Local Rule F-7.

No Play Zones (Rule 16.1f)

Young trees identified by stakes, tubes or similar. If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under 16.1f.

4. Practice Areas

Practising is permitted on or close to the putting green near the 1st tee and the chipping green in front of the clubhouse.

5. Gardens on the Course

 All gardens are integral objects. The flagpole and stone paths leading to it are Immovable Obstructions

6. Suspension of Play

The following signals will be used:

One prolonged note of the siren. Play must be stopped immediately
Three consecutive notes of the siren, repeated. Discontinue play either straight away or after play of hole is finished.
Two short notes of siren, repeated. Resume play.

Note: All 150 yard posts are to the middle of the greens. Yardage plates are to the middle.  On each hole there will be a Front/Middle/Back indication using a colour coded flag system: Red= Front, Yellow= Middle, White= Back
